Social Welfare Advanced Policy
As it was defined in the text, not that many individuals strive to obtain the passion where that would have to work in the area of protection of rights of others. While working as social welfare policy advocate, the following goals should be defined as the primary. The first goal would be to protect the rights of affected categories who significantly suffer social injustice. The following goal would be to teach people who represent American working class (these are 62 %, according to the latest sociological data), the basics of labor rights as well as human rights. And the final tasks would be to develop the goals for making the social welfare policy outriching for the wide audience.
As a social welfare policy advocate, my primary task would be knowledge sharing. Being aware of the fact that people who are strongly engaged with work in their daily routine, they do not dedicate much time for learning possible options of protecting their labor rights. So, my goal would be to inform them about the given options.
The unique talents and individuals will be remarked with the grants created specially for those who would be involved in social welfare policy advocates. As this particular area of focus that does not attach nearly as much attention as other areas of focus in public policy, grants with a fair financial support should be given to all interested individuals who would like to get engaged. A different problem will have to be solved as this is certainly something that would need to be reevaluated. The promotion of justice in various spheres of one’s life requires proper financial support. That’s why grant-written support would be an integral part of advocate’s lives.
The three strategies I will employ will be strongly related to the employment options. The first strategy would be to advocate workers in the most vulnerable areas. In particular, the strategy would require the data collection of workers issues they face on the daily basis. The data will be structured in accordance to the units the workers of the specific units represent. The second strategy would be analysis of that data and deifining the issues. Thus, it would be much more convenient to analyze the needs of the target group. The third stratedy would be engagement with these vulnerable groups and helping them to resolve their issues. The strategy would include legal consultancy on the issues related to social welfare policy making.
Some of the best examples of engagement in the social welfare policy advocacy could be noted some Asian and Arab counties. Fisrt of all, non-traditional way of engagement would be social engagement with citizens. For instance, Arab spring has significantly involved social welfare policy advocacy. Another example could be seen in Zimbabwe when the parents of students who lacked education, proposed some of the practices on the political level. Also, the democratic development in India also involved engagement of citizens and their advocates. In Latin America, urbanist movements in Brazil also included the component of social welfare advocacy.
If I were to assess the effectiveness of the organization, I would certainly judge its work by the outcomes. I would study the strategy proposed by the organization, its continuous work and evaluate the outcomes. For instance, I would be interested in evaluating American Action Network and focus on their social advocacy policy work in the past year. Such mechanist seems to fit the needs for proper evaluation of organizational work.
